General License Class

2025 General License Course – Spring

There are 3 written exams for Amateur Radio license classes.  You must pass level 1 to take level 2, and you must pass level 2 to take level 3.  Level 1 is the “Technician Class License”.  Level 2 is the “General Class License” and Level 3 is the “Extra Class License”.  Each level build on the core understanding of the science of Amateur Radio and permits greater privileges. This is the second level Amateur Radio License course. If you are looking to start your adventure in Amateur Radio, then the Technician Class (entry class) would be your starting point. The Technician Class course will be held in the Fall.

You are about to embark on a major upgrade to your Technician license. Only ~ 25% of Amateur radio licensee are General Class. The General Class License opens up the world for communication. Passing the General Class License test demonstrates your knowledge of HF operating procedures, radio wave propagation, electrical components, practical circuits, signals/emissions, antennas and feed lines. Getting your second license has never been easier and we are here to help you do it! We will help you prepare for your 35-question exam (must answer 26 correctly) and within days of passing your exam the FCC will issue your upgrade license!

Notice regarding FCC Exam
The FCC requires all new applicants, upgrades, vanity applications and renewals to indicate on the VEC form 605 if they have been convicted of a felony. Form 605 is posted here: https://www.fcc.gov/wireless/support/knowledge-base/fcc-form-605.
A YES will place the application in the “pending file for review” category. Applicants answering YES would have to, within 14 days, provide the FCC with a statement explaining the circumstances, and a statement “giving the reasons why the applicant believes that grant of the application would be in the public interest, notwithstanding the actual or alleged misconduct,” the revised Form 605 instructions state.
