Field Day takes place the 4th full weekend of June. The 2022 event will take place June 25-26. It runs 24 hours from 1pm local time Saturday to 1pm local time Sunday.
We will be back at the Edmond Fire Station 5 on Covell just east of I-35. The address is 5300 E Covell Rd, Edmond, OK 73034. We will be down the hill next to the training tower.
We will need members to help provide radios to use, help with set up and tear down, operators for the 24 hours and more.
Also, our next club dinner is planned for Saturday, June 25 to go along with Field Day.
If you are able to supply a radio or help out in any other way, please let me know at email@example.com.
Please start making plans to attend and help out! Visitors are welcome!
At our annual event we are demonstrating to the public, the City of Edmond, and emergency services how volunteer amateur radio operators can provide emergency communications at large events like the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon or after a huge disaster. As you may have seen in A Quiet Place and other movies, Amateur Radio can be used by an individual to talk to others without internet, cell, satellite, or phone cables.
World apocalypse aside, anyone who has a simple fascination with electronics to those with an electronics obsession will love this hobby. Many merely use it as a backup communications if they are hiking, camping, or just traveling. You can buy products from manufacturers and simply connect everything or make everything yourself.
If you are wondering what’s going on at the house with lots of antennas or the car with 3 or four antennas, visit us at Field Day and see our demonstration!
